Major League Baseball(R) 2K11 to Celebrate Start of$1 Million Perfect Game Challenge at Grand Opening of MLB FanCave(R) in New York City
NEW YORK, Mar 31, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- 2K Sports today announced a partnership with Major League Baseball Properties(R) to celebrate the start of the Major League Baseball(R) 2K11 Perfect Game Challenge* on April 1, 2011, which will award $1,000,000 to the first eligible person to pitch a verified perfect game in the latest edition from the popular Major League Baseball 2K series. The event, held at the new MLB FanCave in the Greenwich Village area of Manhattan, will host four gaming stations for the public to take their shot at perfection and attempt what only 20 pitchers in baseball history have achieved.
The Major League Baseball 2K11 Perfect Game Challenge will commence on April 1, 2011 at 12:00:01 p.m. EDT, at which point gamers can begin their quest for perfection using the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft or the PlayStation(R)3 (PS3(TM)) computer entertainment system versions of the game. To celebrate the start of the challenge, fans age 13 years and older+ are invited to test their skills from 12:00:01 p.m. EDT - 5:00 p.m. EDT on pick-up-and-play PS3 kiosks available to the public at the MLB FanCave.
"We're excited to bring the start of the $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge directly to the fans," said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. "Some thought we would never find a winner last year, but our fans' response proves that there will be intense competition with a legitimate champion in this year's challenge. We can't wait to kick things off at the FanCave."
The MLB FanCave, which officially opened just this week on Opening Day, is an innovative new interactive social networking experience where one chosen fan will watch every Major League Baseball game this season. The FanCave is located at the corner of Broadway and 4th Street in New York's Greenwich Village, and is conveniently located near subway stops servicing the N, R, D, F, M, and 6 lines in Manhattan.
2K Sports encourages fans to show up early and get in line for this highly anticipated event. Players will compete on a first-come, first-served basis, and there is a chance that some fans may not get into the FanCave for a shot at the $1 Million.
