IBERDROLA INGENIERÍA Y CONSTRUCCIÓN heads the European energy engineering sector in terms of excellence, having achieved 4-star recognition for Business Excellence (400+ points), based on the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM)’s model. The award was presented by the Club for Business Management Excellence at a ceremony at the company’s Madrid headquarters.
The Certificate or Seal of Excellence was accepted by the company’s CEO, Alberto Sicre, from the chairman of SGS, Ramón Robles, representing the Club for Business Management Excellence The ceremony was also attended by the group head of Innovation, Quality and Environment, Agustín Delgado, and the general manager of IBERDROLA INGENIERÍA, Federico de la Hoz.
The IBERDROLA subsidiary passed with flying colours its third external assessment to achieve the EFQM 400+ European Seal of Excellence in a process started in 2007.No other company in the European energy engineering sector has attained this level of excellence in the management and organisation of its processes and capabilities.
During the ceremony ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System certificates were awarded to IBERDROLA Engineering and Construction UK while IBERDROLA Ingeniería de Explotación received ISO 9001:2008 certification. Both awards were accepted by the respective managers of the subsidiaries: Peter Jones and Antonio José Fernández Pérez.
The assessment report which confirmed IBERDROLA INGENIERÍA Y CONSTRUCCIÓN’s leadership of the European sector emphasised the company’s commitment to excellence through the promotion of participation, the integration of quality and environmental systems in projects, the improvement in the monitoring and control of initiatives, the high level of awareness of workplace health and safety, the new projects undertaken to improve process efficiency and the measures implemented to disseminate good practice.
The EFQM Excellence Model is based on nine criteria. Five of these are called enablers and cover all the management areas of the organisation – what the company does and how it does it -. The remaining four criteria cover the results achieved by the company in relation to its customers, employees, society and strategic and key objectives.
The achievement of outstanding results in the four abovementioned management areas – customers, employees, society and strategy – is directly linked to leadership capacity, the quality of the strategy and its implementation through people, partnerships, resources and processes.
