Bachmann Testifies on St. Croix River Crossing Bill before Natural Resources Subcommittee

Today, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) testified before the House Natural Resources’ Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Land on behalf of her bill, H.R. 850, to facilitate construction of a new crossing over the St. Croix River at Oak Park Heights, Minnesota and St. Joseph, Wisconsin. Bachmann said of the hearing:

“This hearing marks an important benchmark in the process to finally start construction on a new bridge over the St. Croix River. I’m grateful to Stillwater Mayor Ken Harycki and Lakeview Hospital President Curt Geissler of Stillwater for speaking in support of a new crossing.

“For decades, the residents of Minnesota and Wisconsin have needed a safer, more efficient way, to cross the St. Croix, but time and time again, lawsuits from special interest groups have stopped a new bridge from being built. Construction can only begin with an act of Congress, so I am hopeful the Natural Resources Committee will markup and advance my bill in the near future.”
