HIV AIDS 2012 Conference on the Runway

Neuilly-sur-Seine, France--April 25, 2011--

The world's leading AIDS experts will gather for the 2012 biennial HIV AIDS conference in Marseille, France, May 23-25, 2012. The topics of this conference have just been defined: "From HIV Testing to the Search for a Cure". The conference website, www.isheid.com, is also live.

Organized by an independent group of international scientists, the ISHEID conference is recognized for scientific excellence. It also provides a tremendous opportunity for partnership and exchange.

Three decades after the start of the pandemic, HIV still infects daily 7,000 new individuals and kills 2,000 each year. The virus chronically infects more than 33 million people worldwide, with important discrepancies in access to care.

"From Testing to Cure recaps the major issues facing the global response to HIV AIDS", declared Alain Lafeuillade, MD, chair of the conference. Not only traditional prevention approaches have failed, but also many patients are left undiagnosed. On the other hand, patients with a diagnosis of HIV infection face problems of health cost coverage, discrimination, therapy side effects, compliance, viral resistance, premature aging, increased cancer risk

The Organizing Committee is especially committed to highlighting issues of public health and human rights during the 2012 HIV AIDS conference.

Sessions will focus on the latest issues in HIV science, policy, and practice. They will also seek to share key research findings as well as identify gaps in knowledge in the search for a cure.

The 2012 ISHEID will play a key role in shaping international responses to the devastating HIV pandemic. The conference will attract delegates from all over the world, be a unique opportunity for the leading scientists, clinicians, public health experts and community leaders to share the latest developments in HIV research in very practical ways.
