Clayton Becomes Missouri's First EPA Green Power Community
The City of Clayton, Missouri, has officially achieved the 2 percent green power requirement to become Missouri's first U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Community. On April 20, Clayton will be formally recognized as one of only 37 communities nationwide to achieve EPA Green Power Community status.
The Clayton Green Power Community Challenge was launched in July 2010, through a joint effort with Ameren Missouri's Pure Power and Clayton-based Microgrid Energy, with the goal of achieving EPA Green Power Community status by Earth Day (April 22) 2011. Green power purchases by Duke Realty Corporation, the City of Clayton, Clayton Seminary, 28 additional businesses and more than 200 residents helped Clayton to achieve Green Power Community status.
