U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Siting Guidelines Open for Public Comment

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently published two draft documents, Land-Based Wind Energy Guidelines and Draft Eagle Conservation Plan Guidance, in the Federal Register. These guidelines offer agency employees, developers, other federal agencies, and state organizations information for siting wind energy facilities to avoid and minimize negative impacts to wildlife, plants, and their habitats. Both are open for public comment until May 19, 2011.
