Bachmann, Kingston and Gohmert Introduce Bill to Remove Automatic Funding of ObamaCare
Rep. Michele Bachmann (MN-06), Rep. Jack Kingston (GA-01) and Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) introduced the Healthcare Fiscal Accountability Act of 2011 to protect taxpayers by removing up to $105.5 billion in automatic funding that was buried throughout the ObamaCare bill. Bachmann stated:
“The American people sent us to Washington to repeal ObamaCare and cut spending. The Healthcare Fiscal Accountability Act is commonsense legislation designed to remove the automatic appropriations for ObamaCare and instead give each Congress the opportunity to fund, or not fund, the President’s health care program. We must ensure that future Congresses are not bound with a stack of post-dated checks, like the ones that were slipped in ObamaCare.
“Congress, as defined in the Constitution, should have the authority to review funding measures annually. This bill will bring greater transparency to Washington by putting Congress in control of spending, rather than binding us to ObamaCare spending that was pushed through during the 111th Congress by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.”
The legislation, not yet numbered, has 30 original co-sponsors.
