Public Service Co. of Okla. Offers Green Power Program
Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), a subsidiary of American Electric Power, announced it is now offering WindChoice, a voluntary green power program. Eligible customers can buy Oklahoma wind power for their homes or businesses. Under the program, customers can purchase 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) blocks of wind energy at a fixed price premium of $1.72 per block — or 1.72¢/kWh. In addition, WindChoice participants are exempted from paying a fuel cost adjustment for each kWh purchased because wind energy does not use the fossil fuel paid for by the variable charge.
To supply the program, PSO has signed a multi-year contract with a wind farm located in Minco, Oklahoma that began operation in December, 2010.
