Chili’s sued after restaurant patron got a free tongue piercing during meal

Farmington, NM—A New Mexico woman has filed a lawsuit against the Chili’s chain after a sewing needle pierced her tongue while eating at the Farmington restaurant last July, reported CBS News.
Ashley Phillips was eating a plate of ribs and mashed potatoes at the local Chili’s when a 2-inch long sewing needle pierced her tongue.
Immediately after pulling the needle from her mouth, Chili’s employees took the needle. The manger then refused to give it back to Phillips and her husband when they went back to the restaurant and requested it for testing.
The lawsuit was filed after it took Chili’s 52 days to send the needle to a lab for testing. The needle did come out clean for HIV, Hepatitis and other infections. In the meantime Phillips had to stop nursing her baby.
"We have reason to believe that the needle belonged to a member of the cook staff and was used to clean his marijuana pipe," Phillips’ attorney told the Farmington Daily Times. "We also have reason to believe that there was ongoing usage of marijuana that was known by all the employees and the management."
