Media Alert: Update to Starbucks Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Efforts
Starbucks Coffee Company and Starbucks Coffee Japan yesterday announced a commitment to the support and funding of the relief efforts in Japan. The Starbucks Foundation and Starbucks Coffee Japan contributed ¥100 million to the Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan (link to the press release: Starbucks to Contribute ¥100 Million to Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Efforts).
Additionally, Starbucks partners (employees) can contribute directly to the Red Cross or other emergency relief organizations and Starbucks will match those donations.
Customers can donate to support relief efforts in Japan through their local participating Starbucks stores in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Germany and France, with 100 percent of the donated amount going directly to the Red Cross. We are currently working toward implementing in-store customer donations in several other international markets over the coming days.
