IBM Announces Entrepreneur Innovation Contest - 'SmartCamp'

Mar 11, 2011 (PRN): As part of IBM’s ongoing commitment to foster innovation among Entrepreneurs, IBM announces its ‘SmartCamp’ contest in Bangalore, India on April 27, 2011. This is an exclusive global entrepreneur initiative program bringing together entrepreneurs, investors and experienced mentors with innovative ideas that can help to build a Smarter Planet.

IBM launched the Global Entrepreneur Initiative last year in Bangalore and hosted multiple “SmartCamp” entrepreneurial contests around the globe in the past year. These initiatives help IBM to work with the new generation of entrepreneurs tackling some of the world’s most pressing issues like water, transportation, healthcare and the environment that impact the way people live and work.

IBM believes that information technology has the capability to radically improve industries and address many of the major challenges across different sectors. The selected SmartCamp finalists will present their plans to the set of mentors, and the winner will be crowned the winner of SmartCamp Bangalore. In addition, the winner will also be invited to compete in the SmartCamp World Finals and the honor of “IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year.”

Through this initiative, IBM wants to help the next generation of entrepreneurs capture emerging business opportunities in fast-growing industries such as energy, utilities, health care, and telecommunications.
