Manchester City FC opens first English premier league store in the region

Feb 19, 2011 (PRN): Manchester City FC star Adam Johnson joined hundreds of fans yesterday to officially open CityStore Abu Dhabi, the first stand-alone store of any English Premier League team in the region.

Located in Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi, the Manchester City FC store features a full range of Club merchandise, including a shirt printing service to create personalised and one-of-a-kind items.

To celebrate the store opening, winger Adam Johnson first cut the ribbon and then spent time signing autographs for local fans.

The store launch also marked the first day of a fan promotion that runs until March 25: With every purchase of a City shirt, customers can enter a drawing to win a trip for two to attend Manchester City's final home game of the season in May.

Commented Johnson, "We have travelled quite a lot over the past year - around Europe, the US on our pre season tour, and of course Abu Dhabi - and when you visit these places, it definitely makes you realise how far we have come and the ever-growing interest in Manchester City." "Everywhere we go we see City fans coming to greet us, from home and abroad, but none more so than here in Abu Dhabi." Speaking at the opening of the new Manchester City store in Abu Dhabi, the winger reflected on the determination inside the dressing room to land a trophy in the coming weeks."The next three home games are really important to us, particularly so because they cover each of the titles we are competing for," said Johnson.

"Many people focus on our Premier League campaign, which is understandable and we are certainly doing all we can to achieve a top four place, but our progress in both the FA Cup and the Europa Cup are equally important." "We really want to go all the way in the cup competitions and playing the next two ties in front of our home fans will definitely give us a boost."To give UAE fans the opportunity to stay close to the action, CityStore Abu Dhabi will broadcast live all City games throughout the remainder of the season.

Johnson is currently injured after helping City throughout what has so far been a strong season for the Club. During his time in Abu Dhabi, the 23-year-old has been rehabilitating and taking in the sights of the city.
