IBERDROLA is the leading international electric utility in the 2011 edition of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World index, which was presented in Davos (Switzerland) during the World Economic Forum.

The company, which has been selected for the sixth year in a row, holds the 39th place in the ranking, a 16-place jump from the 55th place it held last year. There are only two other groups from the utility sector: the Japanese Tokyo Gas CO LTD (49) and the British Centrica (62).

IBERDROLA is the only Spanish electric utility and one of only three Spanish companies, along with Inditex and Repsol, to be included in the list drawn up by Corporate Knights, the magazine specialising in corporate social responsibility.

This prestigious international ranking assesses various aspects of the world’s leading companies - including transparency, sustainable use of resources, innovation capacity and criteria relating to social responsibility and corporate governance.  

To select the components of the 2011 edition of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World ranking, companies from 22 countries, belonging to all sectors of the economy, that have been the most successful in managing the environmental, social and corporate governance risks and opportunities were studied closely.
