Steven J. Backman Creates a Replica of the White House from a Single Toothpick
Feb 1, 2011 (PRN): Steven J. Backman, a San Francisco native, has been creating toothpick art for nearly 40 years. What began as a hobby eventually became a passion for creating replicas of world famous landmarks.
His latest work of art is the White House, a symbol of America’s hope for freedom and democracy. From a replica of the Empire State Building to a thirteen foot long likeness of the Golden Gate Bridge, Steven has received worldwide recognition for his creativity.
During a recent interview, Steven said “The miniature replica I created of the White House took several days of painstaking work to make but it was a labor of love. As far as I know, it is the world's smallest replica of the White House.â€
Some of Steven’s other well known works are showcased on his online exhibit http://www.toothpickart.com
Steven’s passion for toothpicks has led him to create other amazing sculptures, including a four and one half foot long electric powered radio-controlled yacht he meticulously designed from 10,000 toothpicks. It features a double toothpick rudder system which allows the boat to glide swiftly in all directions in appropriate bodies of water. Steven is continuing his legacy by creating a new series of miniature toothpick art. [Wired by: PressReleaseNetwork.com]
