Bachmann Calls on Obama to Cut Spending in Response to New CBO Deficit Numbers

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) called on President Barack Obama to take a new approach to federal spending after Wednesday's release of historic deficit numbers by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO):

“Tuesday evening President Obama spoke to the nation in the State of the Union address where he pushed more spending even as he called for the government to live within its means. However, hours after his speech we learned from the CBO, under President Obama the country is projected to reach a new record annual deficit ringing in at an astounding $1.5 trillion.

“This outlook is simply unacceptable, not to mention unsustainable. It’s time for President Obama to agree to real steps to cut spending and reduce our deficit; steps like supporting a balanced budget amendment and cutting discretionary non-defense spending to 2006 levels.”
