Sandia Labs/CA hosted a meeting last week for community
leaders of area cities affiliated with a City of Livermore-led initiative
called Innovation for Green Advanced Transportation Excellence, or i-GATE.
i-GATE is one of 12 state-designated Innovation Hubs selected by former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Office of Economic Development to serve as regional technology partnerships intended to accelerate investment and economic development around research clusters. Livermore Lab and Sandia Labs/CA are members of i-GATE, along with a coalition of area cities, the Livermore Chamber of Commerce, Alameda County, universities, and business and workforce organizations.
The meeting provided an opportunity for city leaders to
learn about other ongoing activities in the region in preparation for their
upcoming Mayor's Conference in Washington, D.C.
That trip also will include visits with Congressional members, NNSA
Administrator Tom D'Agostino and other government representatives. In addition to i-GATE, and another local
intiative called Innovation Tri-Valley,
they also received an overview on the progress of the Livermore Valley Open
Campus from Livermore Lab's Buck Koonce and Sandia Labs/CA Vice President Rick Stulen.
