Marine News: Jeppesen and Standard Horizon Team Up To Provide Free ¿How-To¿ Chart Plotter Instruction during 2011 Toronto Boat Show January 8-16
Navigation expert Jeppesen and leading marine electronics manufacturer Standard Horizon have teamed up to offer Canadian boaters free, hands-on instruction in electronic chart plotting during the 2011 Toronto International Boat Show. These public training sessions, which were introduced last year to great public response, will take place in booth G153 each day of the show, January 8-16 in Toronto’s Direct Energy Center.
This free training will cover the basics as well as the finer points of navigating with Standard Horizon chartplotters and C-MAP MAX electronic charts. Among the topics Standard Horizon Executive Vice President Jason Kennedy and other company experts will cover are creating/saving waypoints and routes, setting up the guardian alarm, and using advanced C-MAP MAX features like aerial images, C-Marina charts and dynamic tide/current predictions. Instruction will also cover ways to enhance navigational safety by integrating AIS (Automatic Identification System) targets and data onto the chartplotter display.
To accommodate as many boaters as possible, training sessions will take place three times each day of the show. On weekends, seminars will be held at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. On weekdays, training sessions are scheduled for 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
