Five Enforcement Orders Served in November

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today stated that one Improvement Order and four Closure Orders were served on food businesses during the month of November for breaches of food safety legislation pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998.  The Orders were issued by environmental health officers (EHOs) in the HSE West Region, Dublin Mid Leinster Region and the HSE Dublin North East Region. 

Closure Orders were served on:

• Tai Chi Court restaurant, Bridge Street, Boyle, Roscommon
• 3 in 1 Charcoal Grill take-away, 20 Northgate Street, Athlone, Westmeath
• The Royal Hotel (the kitchen, the cafe and the external food stores), Boyle, Roscommon
• M&K MIREKS Restaurant, The Cresent, Boyle, Roscommon

An Improvement Order was served on:

• De Seeds Restaurant & Bar, 8B Bridge Street, Balbriggan, County Dublin 

Also, during the month of November, five successful prosecutions were carried out by the HSE South Region, the HSE Dublin Mid Leinster Region, the HSE West Region and the HSE Dublin North East Region on:

• The Natural Foods Bakery, Pier Head, Blackrock, Cork
• Millers Pizza, 50 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4
• Marguerites Bakery, Sheehans Road, Newcastlewest, Limerick
• Cashel Kebabs, 28 Lower Gate Street, Cashel, Tipperary
• Superquinn, McKee Avenue, Finglas, Dublin 11

Commenting on these latest Enforcement Orders, Prof Alan Reilly, Chief Executive, FSAI said, “Consumers have to be confident that the food they are eating is safe to eat and the FSAI and enforcement officers will continue to use a zero tolerance policy in relation to breaches of food safety legislation.  Food businesses should take full advantage of the information and support made available by the FSAI and its official agencies to ensure a basic and consistent food safety management plan is developed and put in place in line with legislation.”

Details of the food businesses served with these Enforcement Orders are published on the FSAI’s website.  Closure Orders and Improvement Orders will remain listed on the website for a period of three months from the date of when a premises is adjudged to have corrected its food safety issue.
