IBERDROLA INMOBILIARIA STARTS BUILDING WORK ON ONE OF THE TOWERS IN THE PORTA FIRAL PROJECT, IN BARCELONA

IBERDROLA Inmobiliaria's Porta Firal project in Barcelona has started to grow, with the commencement of the structural works on one of the office buildings in this complex, which has become a landmark for the company and the Catalonian capital in the tertiary sector.

This first tower to be built by the IBERDROLA subsidiary as part of the Porta Firal project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2012, is the one that is closest to the Fira de Barcelona at its Gran Vía premises. 

The building will be 22 storeys high, with a leasable surface area above street level of 23,595 m². The company has started to build it after finishing the underground work for the whole complex, which covers a surface area of over 42,000 m2 and 1,000 car parking spaces, of which around 250 correspond to the building now under construction.   

In the latter months of 2006, IBERDROLA Inmobiliaria purchased 100% of this project, which is located at the entrance to the new Fira de Barcelona premises and consists of four office blocks with a total combined surface area of 91,110 m2.

This initiative is inspired by the prestigious architect Óscar Tusquets, who has already collaborated with the company on the completion of two other office buildings in the same city: the Torres Diagonal Litoral and the Hilton Diagonal Mar hotel.

Porta Firal is a clear example of the commitment that this subsidiary of IBERDROLA has towards Catalonia, a major market for the company with huge potential as regards operations involving the corporate fabric.
