India In-Focus: Market Vectors Small Cap ETF

October 14, 2010 (FinancialWire) (Investrend Information Syndicate) (Go to http://www.financialwire.net/?s=nnddadn for more India In-Focus articles.) — The Market Vectors India Small-Cap Index ETF (NYSE: SCIF) has been on a steady, general climb since September 2010. SCIF was closing in the high $19 range in early September. By mid September the ETF’s closing marks were closing more sessions with high $20 marks. In late September SCIF was hovering around the mid $21 range. And lately the ETF has seen days closing at near $23.

To that end, the he J.P. Morgan Asset Management – ValueNotes Investment Confidence Index (ICI) may have foretold that gaining trend when the Q2 results of that indicator were published last July. At that time the ICI, with a possible range of 0 to 200, noted a Retail Investor Confidence Index rank of 151.7, followed distantly by Advisor Confidence Index (135.4) and Corporate Confidence Index (134.0).

The ICI as a whole stood at 140.4 at that time, indicating a 4.5-point or 3.3% increase over the ICI a year previous (in July 2009).

The findings also indicated that Inflation had been the single biggest confidence killer in the Indian economy over the last two quarters. That quarter the Eurozone debt crisis also appeared to have dented confidence to some extent.
