New book presents energy science nutritional approach for disease prevention

In Foods Heal, physician and author Bill Dean, M.D. proposes a marriage between matter and energy science medical approaches to help avoid illnesses

TACOMA, Wash. (MMD Newswire) August 9, 2010 -- Foods Heal by Dr Bill Dean creates a paradigm shift in nutrition by integrating the energy and matter science medical approaches. Dean urges readers to look at nutrition in a new light and to find the value of the energy science approach for themselves when applying it in their lives.

"Our contemporary understanding of the physical laws that govern the universe is that matter and energy are completely interchangeable, which leads us to the inevitable conclusion that the human physiology is simultaneously matter and energy fields. Our current biological model entertains only a matter field approach to healing," says Dean. "Today we are predominantly a matter-science-oriented audience. If we are to talk about ourselves as biological energy fields, it will require an energy science vernacular so that we can study the mindbody in a deeper and more authentic way."

In Foods Heal, Dean seeks to empower his readers with energy science information that allows them to see the direct connection between food and disease. From his matter science background and training, Dean analyzes the current matter science nutritional approach, which focuses on the measurement of nutritional constituents in order to define what is good for the body, such as food. He then juxtaposes the current matter science method with an energy science approach, where foods are chosen by whether they create balance in one's physiology or not.

"I feel that the problem with the current matter science medical model is that although we do well with serious life-threatening issues, we don't do as well with common clinical problems such as obesity, inflammatory and degenerative diseases," explains Dean. "Energy science medicine can show us how to deal with the prepathological states of disease in order to eliminate its origins. Energy science nutrition can serve as a vehicle to teach us about the approach leading us to a real system of prevention that is presently missing and can be a gift for all of us."

Dean describes how foods are energetically bundles of vibrational frequencies that are the same qualities that make up our own physiology. From an energy science view disease is produced by an imbalance of these qualities. "If foods can be consumed in a way such that imbalances within our bodies are not created, then health is restored and disease prevented. Some have been deluded that health comes in a pill or operation and that in some way they cannot prevent disease," he says.

"Foods Heal represents a scientific and 21st century way of doing nutrition. In the current economic times, it is incredibly refreshing to find that one does not have to pay for more supplements or doctor visits to be healthy," says Dean.

Dean believes the biggest stumbling block for most of us is making the lifestyle changes that are necessary to move toward better health. "Our resistance to change sabotages our ability to make meaningful improvements in our nutritional habits and to simply become aware. Destructive habituated lifestyle patterns of behavior will have to be managed at the energy level. Real healing requires time and our own participation and these obstacles must be addressed if we are ever going to change our health as a society."

About the Author
Bill Dean, M.D. is a practicing urologic surgeon with thirty years of experience. He utilizes his practice to help his patients see the health benefits of the energy science approach if they are interested. He began work with the Ayurvedic Institute headed by Vasant Lad, MASc, who became his teacher and mentor. His training as a surgeon and applied matter science physician created for him a stark contrast to his studies of the energy science model of Ayurveda. While under Lad's direction, he formed an in-depth understanding of the energy science discipline of Ayurveda and crafted the approach that he is pioneering today. Married with three children and four grandchildren, he currently resides in Tacoma.
