Historian's new novel tells true story of controversial Civil War nurse

About the Author
Carolyn Poling Schriber received her doctorate in history from the University of Colorado. A former tenured professor at Rhodes College, she was also the editor-in-chief of the Online Reference Book for Medieval Studies. She is the author of A Scratch with the Rebels, a study of the Battle of Secessionville. Her approach deals with several issues of the Civil War by examining the conflict from both sides. Currently, she is vice president of the Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Service, a charitable organization that provides free eye and hearing care for those in need.
