'I NEVER GIVE UP' Oliver Kahn's new TV format reaches football enthusiasts in Asia and the Middle East

Sep 9, 2010 (PRN): After the World Cup is before the World Cup. Now that the games are over, young kids around the world are still infected with the ‘football virus’. In every country there are aspiring football stars. Oliver Kahn, the world’s best goal keeper together with the German producer, Axel Klopprogge, developed a casting show to find new talent in countries all over the world. The reality TV show, called ‘I NEVER GIVE UP’, was already broadcasted in China. Now it will start in 23 countries in the Middle East.

The audience can witness how young, amateur football players turn into fascinating world-class talents: After 10 weeks of vicious training and exciting challenges with football legend Oliver Kahn they go from ‘zero to hero’. This means that Kahn and his team spend more than 300 manpower days in each country to coach the new talent. But it is not all about football: In the show Oliver Kahn shares his success secrets with contestants and viewers and judges the team together with local co-hosts. Oliver Kahn brings out the best in every contestant – ‘I never give up!’ is his message. The winner of the show gets trained at the Elite School of the German Bundesliga under personal mentorship of Oliver Kahn.

Producer Axel Klopprogge, who lives in Shanghai, points out that the TV format is attractive not only to a diverse audience but also to advertisers. Klopprogge, who has a strong background as a producer of branded content shows e.g. for BAYER, Shell and Dove, points out: ”This TV format has great potential for smart sponsorship integration – we can achieve a brand visibility of up to 20 minutes per show, which is unique! The way that Oliver Kahn is positioned, we can integrate extremely diverse products and services such as finance, resorts, automotive, health care and consumer goods.“ Part of the appeal of the show is also due to the fact that there are both male and female contestants – this implies that both male and female oriented products can be featured in the show. On top of this it is a truly 360° campaign – combining features on Oliver Kahn’s ‘Success Principles’ in business magazines with daily radio infomercials and internet; all featuring both sponsors and program.

The format seems to be convincing - there are now negotiations with TV stations in South Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan, South Africa, Indonesia, India and Germany, where young talents are waiting for their turn – maybe at one of the next World Cups.
