(AMEX: CBP), a developer, manufacturer and distributor of botanical products, bio-pharmaceuticals and traditional Chinese medicines, said that the State Intellectual Property Office of China of the People's Republic of China recently granted the company patent protection for the product packaging design for its Compound Honeysuckle Granules, one of Renhuang's TCM products. According to Renhuang, the patent term is 10 years.

The package design of Compound Honeysuckle Granule features images of the plants, which form the key ingredients of the remedies. Design patents are one of three patent categories available under Chinese patent law and are awarded to recognize a unique shape, pattern, or a combination of the two, in an industrial application.

According to Renhuang, a design patent can strengthen brand value by protecting a valuable item of intellectual property. The company said it now holds a total of four patents for packaging designs, and intends to seek patents for other proprietary designs by 2011.

China-based Renhuang Pharmaceuticals is engaged in the research, development, manufacturing, and distribution of its products. All of the company's products are produced at its three GMP- certified production facilities in Ah City, Dongfanghong and Qingyang.
