Entertainment Media: Rentrak Closes Cowles Contract
June 24, 2010 (FinancialWire) — Rentrak Corp. (NASDAQ: RENT), a provider of media measurement services to the advertising and entertainment industries, said that Cowles California Media Co. and KHQ, Inc., a division of The Cowles Co. and owner and/or operator of six television stations in four markets, is subscribing to Rentrak's local market TV measurement service, StationView Essentials.
Under the agreement, Rentrak will provide Cowles' stations with measurement of local television audiences based on the firm’s viewing and behavioral database, in order for the group to receive a more accurate and relevant picture of audience behaviors.
Cowles' stations now subscribing to the StationView Essentials service include KCBA and KION in Monterey, California; KCOY and KKFX in Santa Barbara, California; KHQ-TV in Spokane, Washington and KNDO in Yakima, Washington.
Available in all 210 local TV markets, Rentrak's StationView Essentials service provides television database currency using a system of satellite, telco TV and cable viewing information from millions of televisions nationwide.
According to Rentrak, there are 31 stations in 17 markets currently subscribing to Rentrak's TV database currency.
