Alternative Fuels: Electric Car Courting Liberty
June 21, 2010 (FinancialWire) (Go to http://www.financialwire.net/?s=ftrdnwswnd for all of today’s featured news.) — Electric Car Company, Inc. (OTCBB: ELCR) said it has a letter of intent agreement with Liberty Electric Cars, USA LLC to combine the expertise of the two companies in the production of zero emission, pure electric vehicles.
The proposed joint venture is in the initial stages and will not begin until and unless a definitive agreement is executed by both companies.
The joint venture would focus initially on the conversion of large luxury 4×4 vehicles like the Range Rover, using Liberty's proprietary electric power train technology as well as the manufacture of unique new electric vehicles like the Bug "e" project.
While the major focus of the EV industry has been on small city cars, Liberty Electric Cars has developed revolutionary technologies that enable large vehicles such as 4×4s to be converted into "pure electric" drive trains. This proprietary technology works by replacing the entire internal combustion engine drive train with an electric power system using four on-board motors (one for each wheel), and incorporating a state-of-the-art energy storage system. The company claims a performance of 0-60 mph in less than six seconds with a top speed of 110 mph and range ability of 200 miles on a six-hour charge.
Electric Car Company specializes in electric conversion and manufacturing for the livery and fleet markets including VIP corporate limousines and delivery trucks. The company noted in its most recent SEC filing that it has operated at a loss since its inception and is dependent on cash from its officers to continue doing business.
Liberty Electric Cars is a clean technology company based in Oxford, UK, and with offices in Chicago USA.
