Infrastructure & Public Utilitites: Jacobs Wins GSA Contract

May 26, 2010 (FinancialWire) — Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) said that it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. General Services Administration to provide construction manager as agent and commissioning services for the modernization of the GT "Mickey" Leland Federal Building in downtown Houston.

Officials estimate the construction value to be around $70 million. Funding for the project is made available under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

The 22-story, 496,285 square foot office tower occupies a full city block in the southwestern area of Houston's central business district. The 24-year-old building requires building system modernization, repairs and major upgrades to function properly, according to Jacobs.

The company said that its work under the award includes replacement of the building's window system; heating, ventilation and air conditioning modernization; accessibility improvements; and upgrades to the lobby plaza and garage.

California-based Jacobs is a provider of technical, professional, and construction services.
