Essilor Buys Signet Armorlite
April 6, 2010 (FinancialWire) — Essilor (OTC: ESLOY), a French maker of ophthalmic optical products, said it has completed its acquisition of Signet Armorlite, a manufacturer of ophthalmic lenses.
According to Essilor, California-based Signet Armorlite generates a global revenue of around $115 million, primarily through its subsidiaries in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Columbia, Portugal and Holland.
Essilor said that Armolite holds an exclusive worldwide license for the development, production and distribution of Kodak brand lenses, and markets a product portfolio that is strategically aligned with Essilor's offering.
The company said that the acquisition will enable it to strengthen its positions in the high-quality mid-range segment.
Signet Armorlite, which will be operated independently by the current management team, will leverage Essilor's distribution network to promote the Kodak brand and reach new customers and consumers around the world, according to Essilor.
France-based Essilor researches, develops, manufactures and markets a range of lenses to correct myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia and astigmatism.
