IBM To Buy National Interest Security

January 21, 2010 (FinancialWire) — IBM (NYSE: IBM) said it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire National Interest Security Co., LLC in a move, it said, to further strengthen Big Blue’s ability to deliver advanced analytics and IT solutions to the public sector. Financial details were not disclosed.

Privately-held NISC is a Fairfax, Virginia-based firm that offers a range of services and solutions in the areas of defense, healthcare, energy, logistics and security. The company offers systems engineering, biometrics, document and media exploitation, systems integration, software development, enterprise architecture, security, information assurance, analysis support and critical infrastructure protection.

According to IBM, the agreement includes the acquisition of Technology and Management Services, Inc., an NISC affiliate. At the completion of the transaction, which is scheduled in the first quarter of 2010, NISC will be integrated into IBM’s Global Business Services consulting unit.
