Birmingham, AL—Oxmoor House, Inc. has participated in the voluntary recall of Home Improvement Books due to errors in wiring instructions that could pose shock or fire hazards to consumers following them, reports the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov. The product recall was announced on January 8, 2010. The publisher, based in Birmingham, Alabama, has recalled approximately 951,000 Home Improvement Books after realizing that nine of these books falsely instruct consumers on wiring in home repair projects. Technical diagrams included in these books also reportedly contain errors that could create shock or fire risks. No incidents or injuries have been reported in regards to the recalled books. Nine instructional books have been recalled and can be identified by either title or International Standard Book Number (ISBN). The recalled books include: • AmeriSpec Home Repair Handbook 978-0-376-00180-1 • Lowe’s Complete Home Improvement and Repair 978-0-376-00922-7 978-0-376-01098-8 • Lowe’s Complete Home Wiring 978-0-376-00928-9 • Sunset Basic Home Repairs 978-0-376-01581-5 978-0-376-01025-4 • Sunset Complete Home Wiring 978-0-376-01594-5 • Sunset Complete Patio Book 978-0-376-01411-5 978-0-376-01397-2 978-0-376-01399-6 • Sunset Home Repair Handbook 978-0-376-01258-6 978-0-376-01256-2 • Sunset Water Gardens 978-0-376-03849-4 • Sunset You Can Build – Wiring 978-0-376-01596-9 These recalled Home Improvement Books had prices ranging from $13 to $35 and were being sold in home improvement stores and bookstores throughout the United States from January 1975 to December 2009.
