Shelton Named To Borders Group Board
December 11, 2009 (FinancialWire) — The board of directors of Borders Group, Inc. (NYSE: BGP) has elected David Shelton as a new director. Shelton has had a 36-year career with home improvement retailer Lowe’s Cos., Inc. that began in 1970 and concluded in 2006 with his retirement.
His most recent position at Lowe’s was senior vice president, Real Estate, Engineering and Construction, a role he held since 1997. Prior to that post, Shelton was vice president, Sales Operations and vice president, Store Operations. Throughout his earlier years with Lowe’s, Shelton served in a variety of positions including Store Manager, Corporate Store Operations Analyst and vice president, Pricing and Training.
Ann Arbor, Michigan-based Borders Group is a retailer of books, music and movies with more than 25,000 employees. Through its subsidiaries, the company operates approximately 1,000 stores worldwide primarily under the Borders and Waldenbooks brand names.
