Crowder currently serves as an adjunct professor of agricultural economics at Virginia Tech University. From January 2006 until May 2007, he served as United States chief agriculture negotiator with the rank of ambassador.

Crowder replaced Gordon E. Guyer, Ph.D., who elected not to pursue an additional term after his continuous service to Neogen on the board since 1990. Guyer will continue to serve the company as director emeritus.

Michigan-based Neogen develops and markets products focused on food and animal safety.
