Ameren To Offer 19 Million Common Shares
September 8, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Ameren Corp. (NYSE: AEE) plans to offer 19 million shares of its common stock. The joint book-running managers for the offering are Barclays Capital (NYSE: BCS), J.P. Morgan Securities (NYSE: JPM), BofA Merrill Lynch (NYSE: BAC), Morgan Stanley & Co. and UBS Securities.
The company plans to grant the underwriters an option for a period of 30 days to purchase up to an additional 2.85 million shares.
Ameren plans to use the net proceeds to make investments in its rate-regulated utility subsidiaries in the form of equity capital contributions and for general corporate purposes.
St. Louis-based Ameren serves around 2.4 million electric customers and almost one million natural gas customers in a 64,000-square-mile area of Missouri and Illinois.
The company owns electric generating plants located in its Midwest market with a generating capacity of more than 16,400 megawatts.
