(NASDAQ: POWR) (Current Market Cap: $97.55 Mil.) said it has been awarded around $5 million of new orders for its EfficientLights LED lighting technology. The new orders are scheduled to be completed and recognized primarily during the second half of 2009.

Including the latest orders, PowerSecure said it has received 2009 EfficientLights orders from major retailers worth more than $13 million. In a statement, the company said it has realized “a significant uptake” in order flow this year from this technology.

The company’s EfficientLights technology is meant to replace traditional fluorescent lighting in grocery and drug store refrigerated cases. PowerSecure claims it reduces lighting energy use around 70 percent in such applications.
