AK Steel Ups Carbon Steel Prices

July 10, 2009 (FinancialWire) — AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) said it will increase spot market prices for its carbon steel products, effective with all new orders for August and September shipments.

The company said it will increase base prices for hot rolled products by $40 per ton. Base prices for cold rolled and coated products will increase by $50 per ton.

West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets.

The company employs about 6,100 people. AK Tube LLC, a subsidiary of AK Steel, employs about 250 people, and produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded tubular steel products for truck, automotive and other markets.
