Force Protection Says Cougar Parts Contracts Worth $77 Million
July 10, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Force Protection, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRPT) said that a contract it received to supply independent suspension kits for 1,317 Cougar mine resistant military vehicles is worth $77 million. On July 6 the company said that the contract was worth $70 million.
The company received contracts for both phase one and phase two installation of the independent suspension kits for. The phase one award was given under modification to a United States Marine Corps contract for $21.4 million. The phase two was awarded on July 2, for an additional $59 million, of which $56 million relates to independent suspension kits.
Force Protection said that work under the awards is scheduled to be completed prior to February, 2010 and will be performed by both Force Protection’s staff of field service representatives and by FSRs from Oshkosh under a subcontract from Force Protection.
The modification for the purchase of the hardware associated with this installation work was awarded on April 8 in the amount of $158.1 million, bringing the total cost for this independent suspension upgrade program, thus far, to around $235.5 million.
