May 27, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Health services firm Cigna Corp. (NYSE: CI) has appointed Annmarie Hagan as executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective May 26. Hagan, who has served since 2001 as the company’s chief accounting officer, succeeds Michael W. Bell.

Bell has been Cigna’s CFO since 2002, and will resign from the company after 25 years of service.

In 2008, Hagan took on an additional role as Cigna’s controller. Before being named chief accounting officer, Hagan served as vice president of financial management for Cigna’s group disability and life insurance business. She also served in other related roles within Cigna’s property and casualty business prior to its divestiture to Ace Ltd. in 1999.

Hagan left Cigna for a short period of time as part of the divestiture and rejoined the company in June 2001.
