New book offers Iraqi perspective on U.S. invasion
CHICAGO, IL (MMD Newswire) May 20, 2009 -- America in Iraq: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly by A.R. Nasser provides an Iraqi perspective on the U.S. invasion and subsequent state-building efforts in the war-torn country. Born and raised in Iraq, Nasser presents a recent history of the country, detailing the events that led to war and describing its impact on the citizens of Iraq.
"Working in Iraq as an Iraqi-American, I saw the gross mishandling of the war and reconstruction efforts," Nasser says. "My effort is to shed light on the misguided events and unplanned initiatives that cost both countries dearly in dollars and human lives."
The book aims to provide in-depth information about Saddam Hussein's regime, Iraqi history and the social and tribal system that dominates regional politics. The narrative also features personal stories and interviews with individuals affected by the conflict, offering a glimpse into the human impact of the events.
"This book is a collection of real stories and analyses of the conflict that strives to present an objective and balanced view of America's involvement in Iraq," Nasser says. "I seek to be fair both to Iraq, my country of birth and to the United States, my adopted home."
