COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (MMD Newswire) May 20, 2009 -- Second American Revolution by Paul R. Heim calls for a series of constitutional amendments that would require term limits for elected officials, restructure the financial system, impose the death penalty for rape, murder, drug manufacture or importation, and other measures that would, in Heim's view, move the country towards a more stable and successful future. Originally conceived as a defense of his religious beliefs, the book evolved into a political and economic call to action.
"Bible students will find that the Hebrew word study of the word ‘Man' included in the book will challenge their current interpretation of the three world ages, creation and Noah's flood," states Heim.
"My hope is that the book will help bring about a constitutional convention that will amend the Constitution without discussion or advice from Congress," Heim says. He suggests an alternative, a Web site that would take the place of Congress and offers community in which to achieve consensus for the preparation of amendments which states can then pass to amend the Constitution. "This is the first time in history that a Web site would coordinate unified state referendums in order to call for a constitutional convention and amendment. People feel so hopeless that they find it hard to believe that We, the people, have the power to reclaim our government," Heim stresses. "Our government needs to be reminded that We, the people are the only source of power and that they are our caretakers. We need to reclaim America by adopting the principles of limited government, mandate that legislation is consistent with free enterprise capitalism and restore the practice of Christianity throughout our nation."
Designed to serve both as a blueprint for change and as motivation to the public, the book features a series of individual essays on topics including freedom of speech, the theory of evolution, the sanctity of scripture and many more. Featuring a resource section with recommendations for additional reading and a chapter detailing ways to get involved in the movement, the book is intended to supply readers with the tools needed to convene a constitutional convention.
"I believe this book was inspired by God and is a catalyst for change. It is about finding the will of the people," Heim says. "May we become bold in our expression of faith and through the ballot box return this nation to the Christian roots upon which it was founded."
