May 12, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Newfield Exploration Co. (NYSE: NFX) has named Lee K. Boothby as its chief executive officer. He also was elected as a member of the company’s board. Boothby, who was named president of Newfield on February 5, succeeds David A. Trice as CEO.

Boothbym who joined Newfield nearly 10 years ago, formerly served as SVP for acquisitions and business development. Prior to this role, he served as president of the company’s Mid-Continent division from February 2002 to October 2007.

Newfield’s Mid-Continent division, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been the company’s fastest growing division over the last three years in terms of production and reserves.

Trice was re-elected as a Newfield director and will serve a one-year term as non-executive chairman.
