New York, NY--Tishman Construction Corporation’s lower Manhattan construction project of the new Goldman Sachs headquarters was halted following a New York construction accident earlier this month. As reported by Newsday, a construction worker’s hammer dropped 18 stories crashing into the rear window of a passing New York City cab driver. Fortunately, no one was reportedly injured in the serious work mishap. The laborer’s hammer fell from Tishman’s 43-story skyscraper building near the World Trade Center site leading to a stop-work order by New York’s Building Department officials. Tishman Construction Corp. was also issued a safety violation and company managers claim they are investigating the accident. The construction company has since hired an independent safety monitor and company leaders say they are taking further initiatives to improve safety for workers and lower Manhattan area drivers and pedestrians.
