February 18, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- Herley Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: HRLY) (Current Market Cap: US$162.03 Mil.) said that it has received an option award from the U.S. Navy worth more than $4.7 million to supply tactical instrument landing systems for both the F/A-18E/F/G and E-2D Naval aircraft.

The AN/ARA-63 TILS is a microwave landing system that provides precise elevation and azimuth guidance information necessary for aircraft carrier landings. The tactical instrument landing system began as an initial multi-year contract for the F/A-18E/F Boeing 'Super Hornet' and is being expanded to cover the E/A-18G 'Growler' jammer aircraft and the E-2D 'Advanced Hawkeye' radar surveillance aircraft.

Herley said that the latest award is the fourth against the five-year contract for the company, and the third of the four option years."

Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based Herley Industries is engaged in the design, development and manufacture of microwave technology solutions for the defense, aerospace and medical industries worldwide.
