2009年4月1日オーストラリアのポートマコーリ　：　外人POT HR クラブ（日本最大の外国人求人サイト）の調査によれば、日本人は、平均９日間の病欠を取得する権限があたえられており、企業の利益は、（その社員による）病欠取得により減益となると、２００８年９月１日に報告されました。

警察庁の年間報告によると、２００７年には、自殺者数は2.9％増加したとされています。これは、日本人が１５分に一人自殺していることとなり、２００７年の総自殺者の４４％は、健康問題が原因であると思われています。
