March 27, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- CapitalSource Inc. (NYSE: CSE) has appointed Donald F. Cole as its chief financial officer, effective May 1. Cole will succeed Thomas A. Fink, the company's senior vice president of finance and CFO, who is resigning to pursue other interests.

Fink will continue as CFO until May 1 and remain with the company until June 19. He will also provide consulting services until December 31.

Cole is a CPA and a lawyer. He has served in a variety of roles since joining CapitalSource shortly after the company was founded. Cole is currently the firm's chief administrative officer and in recent years has served as the interim principal accounting officer, chief operations officer and chief information officer. Cole has been a member of the company's executive committee since 2004.

Company CEO John K. Delaney said, "As we simplify our business and focus on our banking strategy, the CFO role at CapitalSource Inc. is changing significantly in scope.

He said that, as the company's business becomes more heavily concentrated in CapitalSource Bank, which has its own CFO, changes in the CFO role at the parent will become even "more pronounced" over the next two to three years. He added that, "Tom Fink's departure is a mutual recognition of that reality."

Delaney added that, with the choice of Fink, "We chose a successor to Tom from within the company who has intimate knowledge of the finance and operations side of our business."
