Harris Wins $30 Million Navy Satellite Terminal Contract

March 19, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) said has been selected to supply additional rugged deployable satellite communications terminals to the U.S. Navy First Construction Division, who are also known as the Seabees, under a two-year, $30 million follow-on order.

According to Harris, the new terminals, along with previously purchased terminals, will provide the Navy with advanced, multiband satellite reach-back capabilities from around the globe to command centers in the U.S.

The Seabees, who date back to World War II, build military bases, bulldoze and paved roadways and airstrips, and accomplished other construction projects for the Navy.

Harris said that its satellite communications terminals are integrated into weather-resistant, ruggedized transit cases, resulting in a transportable terminal that is lightweight, yet expandable.

Melbourne, Florida-based Harris is an international communications and information technology company serving government and commercial markets in more than 150 countries. The company posted annual revenue of $5.4 billion and has more than 16,000 employees.
