Peoples Bank Close 2 Branches

March 17, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- Peoples Bancorp Inc.'s (NASDAQ: PEBO) (Current Market Cap: US$101.47 Mil.) Peoples Bank, National Association unit plans to consolidate two banking offices into existing Peoples Bank locations. As of June 30, the bank will close its banking offices in Rutland, Ohio and Lower Salem, Ohio.

Company CEO Mark F. Bradley said, "We do not anticipate any job loss as our associates will be employed at other nearby Peoples Bank offices."

After the consolidations, Peoples Bank will have two locations in Meigs County and eight offices in Washington County, Ohio.

Peoples Bank also said it plans to open a new full-service office in Zanesville, Ohio and combine current operations in Nelsonville, Ohio into a new facility.

Marietta, Ohio-based Peoples Bancorp has 49 locations and 38 ATMs in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. Peoples Bancorp offers a line of banking, investment, insurance, and trust solutions through Peoples Bank, Peoples Financial Advisors and Peoples Insurance Agency.
