The Adventures of Crabapple Hollow by Sherry Gustafson tells the story of a family of bunnies that learns new respect for the environment

DUNCAN, S.C. -- December 17, 2008 -- Sherry Gustafson’s The Adventures of Crabapple Hollow is meant to awaken children to the concept that the Earth is a living thing that needs their assistance.

In her illustrated book, The Adventures of Crabapple Hollow, Gustafson introduces children to ecology and a greener way of living. In the story, a family of bunnies gets lost in a forest, seeking shelter in an old crabapple tree inhabited only by fairies. After the misunderstanding, they work out their differences, and the fairies give the bunnies a chance to aid in their most important work, which is caring for Mother Earth herself.

Along with the story, Gustafson has created a Web site and a Fairy Apprentice school program to help children get involved in ecology and be acknowledged for their efforts. Gustafson aims to create a platform that heightens the awareness of parents and children about the ecological challenges the planet faces. She hopes that her book and her Web site will inspire people to get involved, take action and feel great about their contributions.
