JORDAN EAGLES UNVEILS NEW BLOOD Artist Desbuts Blood Paintings at LA Convention Center

Controversial Blood Artist Jordan Eagles debuts new work at Los Angeles Art Show, LA Convention Center, January 21 25, 2009, with Mark Wolfe Contemporary Art.

(MMD Newswire) January 14, 2008 -- Mark Wolfe Contemporary Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of new blood paintings by Jordan Eagles at the Fine Art Dealers Association’s 14th Annual Los Angeles Art Show, presented this year at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  The exhibition will be presented in the gallery’s booth and will be the only solo exhibition of its kind at this fair, as well as the first Los Angeles solo exhibition for Eagles.

Eagles has been working with animal blood to fashion his multidimensional works for nearly a decade.  Capitalizing on the material’s unique chromography and reflective and refractive qualities, these new works – many on a monumental scale – explore themes of regeneration and the physical and intangible connections between body, spirit and nature.

Eagles applies blood to clear and white Plexiglas and then permanently preserves the organic material with layers of resin, allowing the high-gloss surfaces to suspend the fluid, organic forms.  In the presence of light, the blood's translucency is revealed under and between the multiple layers of clear resin, retaining and vibrating the light and illuminating pools of reds/blacks and proteins with sealed-in air bubbles. The results are remarkably luminous as the blood permanently maintains its rich color and natural texture.

Eagles’ recent solo shows include: Mark Wolfe Contemporary in San Francisco, Krause Gallery in Atlanta, Merge Gallery in New York City and the Aqua Art Fair in Miami.  Eagles’ works are have been featured in The New York Times, Village Voice, Page 6 Magazine, MSNBC, San Francisco Chronicle and Architectural Digest, and his works are currently on view in Specimen: Re-presenting the Natural World, at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and Germ Welfare at The Shore Institute of Contemporary Art.
