Perrault Named CEO Of Brookline Bancorp

March 6, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- The board of directors of Brookline Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: BRKL) has elected Paul A. Perrault as chief executive officer of Brookline Bancorp and its Brookline Bank unit, succeeding Richard P. Chapman, Jr. who is retiring after 35 years as CEO.

Perrault was the CEO of the Chittenden Corp. from 1990 to 2008. Chittenden a Vermont-based bank holding company, operated 140 offices in Vermont, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut.

He will become chairman and CEO of Brookline Bank and President of Brookline Bancorp effective March 16, and CEO of Brookline Bancorp on April 16, the date of the quarterly meeting of the company's board.

Chapman will continue as chairman of Brookline Bancorp and a director of Brookline Bancorp and Brookline Bank.

Brookline, Massachusetts-based Brookline Bank is a community bank with eighteen branches in the greater Boston area.
