Two children dead from carbon monoxide poisoning Reports AmericanInjuryNews.com
Greek officials have confirmed the deaths of two children in the Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel due to large amounts of toxic carbon monoxide (CO) that leaked through air vents.
Corfu, Greece (AmericanInjuryNews.com) - Tragedy interrupted the sleep of the Sheppard while on holiday in Corfu, Greece. The British family was staying at the four-star Louis Corcyra Beach Hotel at the resort of Gouves in October of 2006. In the dense of the night, Mr. Shepherd heard his daughter whimpering and before he could even attempt to revive her, the carbon monoxide gas had overwhelmed him. Both of the children ages Christianne Shepherd, seven, and her six-year-old brother Robert
Investigators state that there must have been harmful carbon monoxide fumes that leaked into the air conditioning system from a faulty gas boiler at the hotel. Eleven Greek employees along with the health and safety inspector, Richard Carson, 26, and holiday representative, Nicola Gibson, 24; face charges of negligence. They are to be tried on charges of negligence - which lead to the injury of the children's father, Neil Shepherd, 38, and his partner Ruth-Amy Beatson, 28, who were left in comas for several days. The 'silver lining' in all of this is that since the horrible happenings, Mr. Shepherd and Ms Beatson had baby Ruby Ella in January, and Mrs. Wood and her husband Paul had baby Luke in February. Experts are now carrying out an examination on the air conditioning system and the water heater systems.
